Case Study · Pro-curo Software Ltd
Tracking a sample inventory across multiple sites
CRUK · Research laboratory, multi-site
The challenge
A research laboratory with a main site and a satellite laboratory in another part of the country needed to track samples across both locations, including the samples in transit between them, which is where a trail most often breaks.
What was put in place
- Pro-curo Enterprise was deployed on a central server, giving both sites access to the same data.
- An "In Transit" location tracks samples being moved between sites via carrier, so material in motion is still accounted for.
- Dispatch notes are printed automatically.
- Portable barcode scanners at the satellite site allow samples to be booked into freezer storage immediately on arrival, maintaining traceability without needing a computer at the freezer.
The outcome
Both sites work from one inventory, and material moving between them stays inside the traceability model rather than falling out of it for the duration of the journey.
Who this is relevant to
Organisations running more than one site, or shipping material between sites, where in-transit material is the weak point in the record.
